Sunflowers and Water Lilies!

I have finally edited many of the sunflower and water lily photos from my "way too early in the morning" shoots.  Despite getting up and shooting before I'm actually awake, I loved every minute of it.  The sunflower field was eye catching to say the least.  So many bright and cheerful yellow sunflowers in one huge field.  It was amazing!  Even more amazing were the beautiful lotus and water lily ponds.  It was challenging finding flowers close enough to photograph.  The prettiest ones were sometimes in the middle of the pond, out of reach for the 70 - 300 zoom lens.  It was fun searching each pond for different varieties of these beautiful flowers.  After photographing them for the first time I have to say they are, without a doubt, my favorite flowers.  I have chosen some of the images I like the most to share with you.  Here they are.  I hope you enjoy them.

Have a nice week!

Jersey Shore

I took a little trip to the Jersey shore to visit family I hadn't seen in over 40 years.  It was wonderful to experience a part of my roots I didn't realize were still so dear to me.  As usual, I took my camera and had some fun shooting in between catching up with my relatives.  I went back to the same lake several times to shoot a beautiful flock of swans.  I returned home to photograph a sunflower field, then water lilies and lotus over the next two mornings.  Fortunately the weather was 80 degrees and beautiful on those days.  During the sunflower shoot I accidentally dropped my new zoom lens.  I thought for sure it broke but the noise I began to hear was just the image stabilization.  Funny how I never heard it before.  One must become clumsy when not used to waking up at 6:00 am to photograph before the sun is too bright and the bugs get buggy.  Below are some of the swan photos I so enjoyed shooting.  I'm still editing the sunflower, water lily and lotus photos.  I will post some of those soon too.

Enjoy your weekend and stay cool!

Name This Flower

I just edited these beautiful flowers but am not sure what they are.  Does anyone know what kind of flower this is?  I would love your feedback.

Thanks and have a nice day!

Tulips, tulips, tulips!

I have begun to edit the beautiful array of tulip plantings I photographed at Brookside Gardens in April.  I thoroughly enjoyed shooting the pink, orange, cream, yellow, red and purple tulips along with the many other photographers there.  I was probably the only photographer using a macro lens without a tripod.  I have a pretty steady hand so I was able to get some sharp macro shots.  A tripod will definitely be my next purchase.  Here are some of the shots I've edited so far.  More to come soon.  I hope you enjoy them as much as I did!  Have a great weekend!    Annette
